A Mauritian national was shot dead by police on Saturday in Mananara Avaratra, after killing his 34-year-old partner, a mother of two. According to witnesses, he was known for domestic violence. This time, he went as far as taking the woman’s life.
The feminicide occurred around 1:00 a.m. in Antanambao. Armed with a knife, the man severely injured the woman in the head and arms. Despite the intervention of neighbors and her transport to the hospital, the victim did not survive.
The suspect fled and attempted to leave the town by car. Spotted in Androkaroka, he was taken toward the police station but managed to escape on the way. Holed up in a wooded area of Mahambolona, he violently resisted the police, armed with a knife he had carefully concealed.
After several ignored warnings, the police opened fire and fatally wounded him. Born in 1985 in Mauritius, he was also carrying a pack of cigarettes containing cannabis residues.
