FRENCH DEBATE – UCM wins the regional tournament

The duo from the Catholic University of Madagascar (UCM) won the regional final of the 12th edition of the Inter-University French Debate Tournament (TIUD), held on October 22 in Antananarivo.

Koloina Fanirisoa Rajaonarivony and Nalitiana Tahianjanahary Rakotomavo secured victory for Madagascar by defeating teams from six countries in the region. The two UCM representatives defended their arguments on topics related to civic engagement, volunteering, and youth employability, which was the central theme of this edition.

The Comoros, represented by the University Institute of Technology of the University of the Comoros, took second place. The best speaker awards were given to Marie Alizée Crisie Désirée Shanone Bonnefin from the MCCI Business School of Mauritius and Sharmila Bento from the Pedagogical University of Mozambique.

Organized by the Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Regional Office of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), with the support of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), the TIUD aims to promote the use of French and strengthen students’ oratorical skills. The tournament also fosters civic debate and exchanges between young Francophones and Francophiles in the region.
