AMBOHIMANAMBOLA – Young man found dead in the Ikopa River

A few days after the discovery of a first body in the Ikopa River in Ambohimanambola, a second corpse was recovered from the same waters yesterday morning. The victim is a 23-year-old man whose circumstances of death are considered suspicious. Investigators are currently prioritizing the theory of murder followed by the disposal of the body in the river.

The Ambohimanambola gendarmerie has opened an investigation. Two men suspected of involvement in the case have been placed in police custody for questioning.

According to his relatives, the victim, who worked as a co-driver for a tanker truck, was intentionally killed. His body was found in the river, but his stomach did not show signs of prolonged immersion.

“The young man was beaten during an altercation. He was not found that same night, but his body was discovered in the water the next morning. Among those arrested is a man identified as having participated in the fight. The autopsy results are pending,” stated a source close to the investigation.
