HEALTH – Dawoodi Bohra community conducts free surgical operations

The city of Antsiranana is hosting a major free medical campaign from July 19 to 25, organized by the Dawoodi Bohra community of Madagascar. Open to the entire population, this humanitarian initiative aims to facilitate access to healthcare, strengthen prevention, and improve patient care through consultations, screenings, and surgical interventions.

In a spirit of solidarity and humanitarian commitment, the Bohra community is organizing a vast free surgery operation for the benefit of the populations of Antsiranana and its surroundings.

As the community is working with hospitals to carry out this campaign, medical services are provided daily in several health facilities in the city, notably at the Tanambao University Hospital Center, the Military Hospital, and the Place Kabary University Hospital Center, where specialized consultations, medical examinations, and free surgical interventions are offered according to patient needs.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health of Madagascar, these missions bring together about thirty medical specialists from around the world to provide free care to local populations. This is at the initiative of their spiritual leader, Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin.

In the northern capital, this year’s major medical campaign focuses on about a hundred consultations and a hundred surgeries. The project aims to help local communities that have limited access to specialized healthcare.

According to explanations by Professor Haryoly Nirina Judicael, the main interventions of this medical camp generally include multidisciplinary and multicentric consultations. Thanks to the support of the Bohra community, consultations, treatments, and surgical interventions are entirely free, until the patients are discharged from the hospital.

During these days, a medical team composed of surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and health personnel mobilized for the occasion will welcome patients from different neighborhoods and localities. After medical consultations and preliminary examinations, eligible individuals have been able to undergo surgery under conditions meeting medical requirements.
