A Malagasy team has brought glory to Madagascar on the African stage. The team won the DIU E-Health Hackathon 2026, held from June 15 to 18 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, under the theme: “Health Innovations and Practices in Africa.” The team secured the prize by developing an intelligent technological solution dedicated to pregnancy monitoring and maternal and child health. The project helps to anticipate medical risks in advance and improve patient care.
Dr. Radoniaina Andriantsiresy Rasoamanana, a lecturer and researcher at the Higher School of Polytechnique of Antananarivo and Director of Information Systems and New Technologies at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was part of the winning team. Each team brought together various disciplines, including doctors, pharmacists, nurses, digital experts, social workers, veterinarians, legal experts, geographers, and sociologists.
The goal is to work together to transform knowledge acquired within the DIU E-Health program into concrete, innovative, and high-impact projects. This multidisciplinary approach and pan-African cooperation, which characterize this hackathon, are crucial for addressing public health challenges and building more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable health systems.
Received by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research on June 23, Dr. Radoniaina Andriantsiresy Rasoamanana was congratulated for his efforts and success. The Minister encouraged him to continue his research and innovation work to further promote Malagasy expertise on the international stage. This year’s hackathon brought together about sixty participants from seventeen African countries.
