The final stretch is here. The Malagasy Billiards Union (UBM) has finalized the list of players who will represent the Great Island at the International Billiards Federation (IBF) World Championships. The 2026 edition of the global summit will take place from October 24 to November 1 in Cape Town, South Africa. Madagascar will field twenty-eight players.
The national pre-selection was formed by the top eight ranked players from the four categories of the national championship, which was contested over twelve stages from late 2025 to the end of August. At the conclusion of this competition, world championship quarter-finalist Daniela Andriamihaja from ISBB finished in pole position in the ‘Men’ category with 390 points. Tata from My Adal’s took second place (336 points), ahead of Elio from One More (272 points).
In the ‘Ladies’ category, Fahren from LLC dominated the rankings with 478 points, followed by Anja from My Adal’s (365 points) and Andrianina from Infinity (294 points). The senior podium is occupied by Olivier from My Adal’s (448), Teddy from Infinity (436), and Angelo from Optium (338).
The top 3 in the U23 category consists of Jordan from Favelas (422), Toavina from Atmo (400), and Henika from TF Pool (360). The final list of national team members for the trip to Cape Town was completed on Tuesday evening. The UBM will organize a presentation ceremony for the final selection members on Friday evening. The evening will also feature the awarding of prizes, trophies, and rewards to the best players in each category following the 2025-2026 national championship.
The event will be hosted by two artists passionate about the discipline, Nate Tex and Tovo J’Hay. This international trip is made possible thanks to the personal efforts of the players, clubs, the UBM, and their partners. The first national championship organized by the UBM saw the participation of eighty-four players: forty-eight in the men’s category, thirteen in the women’s, fifteen in the seniors, and nine in the U23 category.
