Traffic is interrupted on Rue Rainibetsimisaraka, between the Tana Plaza Hotel and the Malagasy Post Office (Poste Malagasy) at Petite Vitesse. “This measure will remain in effect until September 19, as part of the work to install a main water pipe under the second phase of the Antananarivo Integrated Sanitation Program (PIAA2),” the Urban Commune of Antananarivo (CUA) stated in a press release last week.
The work involves the closure of a strategic axis and a temporary reorganization of taxi-be (public transport minibus) routes.
To limit disruptions, the CUA has implemented traffic reorganization measures. The taxi-be stop located at Shalimar Tsaralalàna has been transferred to Roso Ambatomena. The temporary terminals for lines 105 and 114 have been set up in front of the Tana Plaza Hotel.
Traffic flow has also been rearranged in the area. The road connecting Galana Tsaralalàna to Ucodis is temporarily becoming a two-way street, while the street leading to Isotry from Shalimar has been converted into a one-way street.
The routes of several taxi-be lines are modified throughout the duration of the work. Vehicles operating the Soarano–Ampefiloha route will pass through Hotel Mellis Analakely, Pompier Tsaralalàna, Galana, Ucodis, and Isotry before resuming their usual path. Taxi-be line 133 (Ambodifilao–Itaosy) will now take the route via Hotel Mellis, Roso Ambatomena, the Ambohidahy tunnel, and Rue Titsy Ambanin’Ambohitsorohitra. Meanwhile, vehicles on line 110 (Analakely–Anosizato) will transit through Ampasamadinika (Sakamanga), Rue Titsy Ambanin’Ambohitsorohitra, and Ampefiloha before returning to their regular route.
The CUA specifies that law enforcement officers will be deployed to the site to regulate traffic and guide road users.
