Little Landricia, a one-and-a-half-year-old albino child, was killed in Toliara as part of a ritual crime exactly one month ago. Ten days after the murder, local authorities identified eighteen individuals as suspected participants in the crime, including shamans, nurses, informants, human smugglers, alleged perpetrators, and individuals accused of kidnapping the child.
On June 12, the Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance of Antananarivo, Narindra Rakotoniaina, announced that sixteen men involved in the case had been sent to the Tsiafahy High-Security Prison. Two women were remanded to the Antanimora Central Prison. All eighteen suspects are currently detained in Antananarivo.
The prosecutor recalled that five individuals armed with machetes broke into the child’s family home around 2:00 a.m. in Ankiembe, Toliara. They forcibly abducted the child from her parents. Fortunately, the mother was able to hide another of her children, who also suffers from albinism. On May 28, the child was killed and subsequently decapitated. Investigations conducted thus far have clarified the roles of certain suspects. They face charges of kidnapping, murder, organ trafficking, and conspiracy. The alleged perpetrators are awaiting trial, where they risk life imprisonment.
“An entire network operates behind this case of kidnapping and murder of an albino child. Law enforcement and the justice system are working tirelessly to dismantle these networks,” the prosecutor warned. However, the mastermind or masterminds remain unknown.
