The AfCFTA has launched a digital gateway to facilitate Malagasy companies’ access to commercial information and opportunities within the African market.
Value creation is the primary objective of this new digital gateway established under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Designed for Malagasy exporters and importers, this platform aims to centralize trade information and streamline corporate access to the opportunities offered by the African market.
Previously, information vital to economic operators was scattered across various administrative bodies and agencies. This new platform consolidates these data points into a single access window, allowing entrepreneurs to easily obtain information regarding procedures, regulations, and international trade opportunities.
“Commercial information was previously difficult to obtain as it was fragmented across multiple platforms. This digital gateway will provide a single space aggregating all information useful to entrepreneurs,” explained Holy Randriamifidy, Director of Research and Economic Integration at the Ministry of Commerce and Consumption, during the official presentation of the platform yesterday at the Hôtel Colbert in Antaninarenina.
Competitiveness
Beyond access to information, the platform will also allow exporters to report obstacles and trade barriers online—a significant step forward. “This information can be published online and will be accessible not only within Madagascar but also to international partners and entrepreneurs looking to collaborate with Malagasy companies,” emphasized Heriniaina Ramananarivo, Coordinator of the Project to Support the Implementation of the AfCFTA in Madagascar.
This initiative is supported by the African Development Bank through the Project to Support the Implementation of the AfCFTA. It serves both public and private sector stakeholders, with the goal of strengthening the competitiveness of Malagasy enterprises and enabling them to better leverage the African single market.
