ADABOLATSAKA FESTIVAL – Thirty artists celebrate the diversity of dance

The Adabolatsaka festival will bring together, from July 25 to August 1 in Antananarivo, about thirty Malagasy artists and a total of one hundred and fifty artists from diverse backgrounds, featuring a program dedicated to the richness of dance in all its forms.

For eight days, Antananarivo will vibrate to the rhythm of Malagasy dances in all their forms. From July 25 to August 1, the Adabolatsaka festival will gather about thirty Malagasy artists from the capital and the regions, alongside international artists, to highlight the diversity of choreographic creation. Through shows, training sessions, and exchanges, the event aims to promote national culture while offering a genuine platform for expression for the country’s talents.

Presented by the K’olo Disaraga Cultural Center, the first edition of the Adabolatsaka festival places dance at the heart of its mission. In a context where dancers still have few spaces for recognition and major events dedicated to their art, the festival intends to offer a stage for expression, promotion, and exposure to emerging talents.

More than 2,500 spectators are expected for this first edition, which will bring together a total of one hundred and fifty artists from Madagascar and abroad, notably from Reunion Island, Mauritius, and Guadeloupe. The festival will open with an inaugural show before offering a rich program, consisting of masterclasses in modern dance, contemporary dance, hip-hop, breakdance, Afro-dance, K-pop, and traditional-inspired dance.

Choreographic creation workshops, an open stage dedicated to urban and contemporary dances, as well as a gymnastics course will complete the activities. The various events will take place in several cultural venues, including K’olo Disaraga, Havoria, the Alliance Française of Antananarivo, the Antaninarenina garden, the Cité des Cultures, the German-Malagasy Circle (CGM), and the Analakely square.
