Guidance, training, employment support, and entrepreneurship. The Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training (METFP) and the NGO Asmae (Association Sœur Emmanuelle) signed a new three-year framework agreement this Monday in Ampefiloha to strengthen the socio-professional integration of young people. The agreement places special emphasis on young girls, vulnerable individuals, and people with disabilities.
Concretely, the partnership aims to better guide young people toward professions and training that match their aspirations, while taking into account the real needs of the labor market. Technical and pre-vocational training will be strengthened, accompanied by coaching, job preparation, as well as support for self-employment and entrepreneurship. Bridging the gap between training institutions and companies is also among the priorities.
According to Asmae’s Director General, Adrien Salaise, the goal is to enable young people to develop and access economic opportunities through training and guidance tailored to their desires and local economic realities. The NGO has already supported nearly a thousand young people in Analamanga and Vakinankaratra through its training initiatives. Strengthening and sharing successful experiences are now part of the planned actions to reach more beneficiaries.
For his part, the Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Dr. Todisoa Andriamampandry, emphasizes that the alignment between training and employment, as well as youth guidance, is essential to enable them to work or create their own businesses. Initial actions will rely on the network already established in the two intervention regions, with broader ambitions on a national scale.
Through programs and initiatives of this kind, Asmae wishes to test solutions in the field, improve them with local stakeholders, and deploy them on a larger scale once they prove successful. Thus, training can be transformed into a real stepping stone toward employment and the economic autonomy of Malagasy youth.
