A woman is suspected of having killed her husband overnight from Thursday to Friday in Ambohimahatsinjo, in the commune of Ambohimanambola.
Gendarmes, alerted to the scene, discovered the body of 51-year-old R.P. lying on his bed, showing multiple injuries to his head, legs, and knees. According to the doctor from the Tsarataona Basic Health Center Level II, these injuries caused his death.
Investigators found bloodstained clothing, a pestle, a piece of wood embedded with nails, and a blood-stained mat. Traces of blood were also visible in the kitchen, despite an attempt to clean them up. The 56-year-old widow was caught trying to hide a pair of blood-stained blue trousers in the toilet at the time of the intervention. She was immediately taken into police custody.
The seized items will serve as evidence in the investigation opened to clarify the circumstances of this domestic tragedy. The National Gendarmerie stated that public order was maintained and that no acts of mob justice occurred thanks to the rapid arrival of their team.
