The authorities are preparing a political dialogue. The meeting at the beginning of the week between the President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, and the two elected former presidents, Marc Ravalomanana and Hery Rajaonarimampianina, is one of the first steps. This political dialogue will be held in parallel with the national consultation, the President of the Refoundation indicated during his meeting with the Malagasy diaspora in Egypt on Tuesday evening. According to the Head of State, this approach should contribute to creating the necessary conditions for organizing the elections scheduled for December 2027.
The President of the Refoundation did not provide details on the ins and outs or the conduct of this political dialogue. “We are still going to have discussions and we will see later how to conduct these discussions,” he simply mentioned to his audience. “Both are ‘ray aman-dreny’ (elders/respected figures) and we are looking with them at what should be done,” he continued.
According to Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, the outcome of this political dialogue, which is expected to be organized in parallel with the national consultation led by the Council of Christian Churches in Madagascar (FFKM), will be decisive for the preparation of the next electoral deadlines. “If this political dialogue goes well, there is no reason to doubt the holding of the December 2027 elections,” he maintained. He believes that once this process is initiated under good conditions, “it will not take long to prepare for the elections.”
On Monday, the Head of State received two of his living predecessors at Iavoloha. According to the presidential statement, the discussions allowed the participants to exchange their points of view on several issues affecting the country’s affairs, in the interest of the Malagasy population.
