DISAPPEARANCE – Four suspects in the death of two young women from Manjakaray shot dead after an escape attempt during a reconstruction, according to police

Suspects down. The defense and security forces have announced the death of the four young men suspected of involvement in the murder of two young women living in Manjakaray. According to Commissioner Joachim Randriamaro, head of the Information, Communication and Institutional Relations Service of the police, they were shot by law enforcement officers during a crime scene reconstruction this Saturday, as reported in a video released by the Ministry of Justice.

According to the police official’s account, one of the suspects resisted security forces and forcibly snatched a weapon from one of the officers during the reconstruction in Ambohimanga Rova. “The others took advantage of this situation to resist and attempt to flee,” he continued. “The security forces then had to resort to the weapons at their disposal,” he added. “As a result, the four suspects lost their lives,” he stated.

According to the head of the police information service, the four suspects had confessed to the crime for which they were accused. An excerpt of these alleged confessions is included in the video released by the Ministry of Justice. The video statement, attended by the Public Prosecutor, indicates that the four individuals were suspected of gang rape, murder with cruelty, and theft from the victims.

Reported missing on Friday, the two young women were found dead near Ambohimanga Rova. Security forces arrested the suspects relatively quickly following the capture of one of them.
