Rugby Union – Madagascar Cup: Cosfa and Uscar edge closer to the final

The Madagascar Rugby Cup semi-finals promise two highly competitive matches. Newly crowned national champions, Cosfa, will face TFA, while Uscar will take on TFMA. Both TFA and TFMA reached this stage after defeating tough opponents in the quarter-finals and are now aiming to cause an upset.

Cosfa enters the match as the favorite following their 28-22 victory over CEA Andranomanalina. However, TFA has shown great ambition by narrowly eliminating USA Ankadifotsy (21-20). Despite TFA’s recent progress, history favors the military club, Cosfa, which has dominated their recent encounters in 2024.

“As the reigning champions, we are aiming for the double. Our first mission this Sunday is to beat TFA, who are not easy to handle,” said Noé Mboazafy Rakotoarivelo, the Cosfa coach. TFA coach Maminarivo Andriamaro remains optimistic, stating, “There is no such thing as a lost match in advance. We are ready to create a surprise.”

The other semi-final features TFMA, who pulled off a major upset by eliminating the defending champions FTM Manjakaray (17-16), and Uscar, who secured their spot by defeating TAM Anosibe (20-13). The matches will take place this Sunday at the Makis Stadium in Andohatapenaka, where the favorites will look to confirm their status against determined challengers.
