Just like at home. For the umpteenth time, the Barea will play their next home match in Casablanca or Marrakech. Due to the lack of an approved stadium for the second day of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the Malagasy national team will play against the Tanzanian selection in one of these two Moroccan cities, as has been the case for the past three years, in late September or early October.
These are two Moroccan cities where the Malagasy team has been accustomed to playing for several years, specifically since the Barea Mahamasina Stadium lost its accreditation. Last March, the Malagasy team traveled to Marrakech for their training camp.
The Barea Stadium is not expected to be available until at least the end of the year. Madagascar will therefore likely leverage its good relations with Morocco to host its “home” matches on Moroccan soil.
This match against Tanzania is already shaping up to be crucial for Madagascar in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, where only one qualifying spot is available in Group L. Before this deadline, the Barea will travel to Nigeria to face the Super Eagles during the first matchday.
