Entrepreneurship: Training prepares youth for production

“When a country does not produce, it remains poor,” says Lanto Eric Randrianarimalala, Director of Higher Education and Multimedia. For him, training young people is a major challenge in an economy where many focus on services while production remains insufficient. The goal is to train a generation that does not just seek employment, but is capable of undertaking, producing, and creating jobs. However, this ambition is hindered by the cost of higher education. For young people from modest families, financial difficulties can compromise their studies despite their skills and potential.

It is in this context that the Basket Fund aims to mobilize funding to allow deserving young people to continue their studies. Depending on the candidate’s profile, the aid can cover 10% to 80% of training costs, based on results, potential, motivation, project viability, and family financial situation. The objective is also to guide beneficiaries toward entrepreneurship, production, export, and job creation.

The selection of beneficiaries will be done through a competition. More than 65 candidates have already registered, and 60 will be selected for the first year. The training programs offered cover business management and creation, leadership and public management, communication and multimedia, as well as international trade.

The Basket Fund’s financing relies on contributions from companies, individuals, and various partners. Among the first contributors is Faly Export, which provided 10 million ariary: 5 million is intended for tuition fees, and the remaining 5 million serves as seed funding for the beneficiaries’ projects.

Through this initiative, the goal is to answer an essential question: how to better train young people so that they, in turn, become actors in production, entrepreneurship, and economic development?
