The Chinese Embassy celebrated the 105th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party yesterday. An opening for cooperation with Malagasy political parties was affirmed on this occasion.
A helping hand extended to Malagasy political parties. This is, in essence, the thrust of the speech delivered yesterday by Ji Ping, the Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar. He spoke at the opening of a reception held at the embassy in Nanisana to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.
For the occasion, the diplomat emphasized international cooperation between political parties. “The Chinese Communist Party is ready to collaborate and exchange with Malagasy political parties,” he declared, stressing that these exchanges will be based on mutual respect, independence, non-interference, and cooperation. According to him, this collaboration with foreign political parties is encouraged by Chinese President and leader of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping.
A political approach
Ambassador Ji Ping added that the Chinese Communist Party “is always willing to learn from other parties and is always open to sharing experiences.” He added that “despite differences in ideology and social structure, the Chinese Communist Party is ready to strengthen exchanges and share experiences with political forces in other countries around the world, including those in Madagascar.”
This approach, leaning more towards cooperation between political parties rather than traditional diplomacy, may explain the composition of the guest list at yesterday’s reception. In addition to a handful of government members representing the Executive branch, the majority of the guests were leaders or members of political parties from all sides, parliamentarians, students, and former beneficiaries of Chinese government exchange programs.
As an exception to the rule, it was Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, President of the National Assembly, who spoke during the official remarks. “The history of the Chinese Communist Party is the key to understanding the path that has led China to where it stands today. In these times of renewal, the selflessness demonstrated by the Chinese people to develop their country is an example to follow,” declared the head of the lower house.
