A busy weekend ahead. The Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) is organizing a series of events this Saturday and Sunday in the capital and its surroundings, including the inauguration of two infrastructure projects. Contrary to the announcements made twice by the federation’s president, Alfred Randriamanampisoa, FIFA President Gianni Infantino will ultimately not be present at these ceremonies.
For Saturday, the federation will hold its ordinary general assembly in the morning at the Barea Mahamasina Stadium, followed by a visit to the site of the future headquarters of the national body within the same stadium complex. The validation of the amendment to the articles of the statutes and the electoral code is expected to be one of the major points on the agenda of the GA.
The inauguration of the Carion National Technical Center and the new synthetic pitch is scheduled for the afternoon. The inauguration of the FIFA Arena in Ampangabe, Ambohidratrimo, is planned for Sunday. The Carion center was renovated thanks to subsidies from the FIFA Forward project amounting to 2 billion dollars. Work began on December 13, 2024, and was expected to last eight months, but was delayed. The head of the international body was originally scheduled to grace the inauguration ceremony.
