Yesterday, the bodies of two young women, who had been reported missing since Friday, were discovered in a ravine in the Andranomatsatso sector, in the rural commune of Ambohimanga Rova.
According to the gendarmerie, the bodies were found around 1:30 PM following an alert from the mother of one of the victims. Examinations conducted with a doctor from the Ambohimanga Basic Health Center (CSB II) revealed severe injuries on both deceased. The victims had deep wounds on their necks and heads, likely caused by a sharp object.
Investigators noted the absence of blood at the site, suggesting they were killed elsewhere before being transported and abandoned at the location. Initial medical findings indicate they had been dead for over 48 hours. The examination also established that one of the young women had been subjected to sexual violence before her death.
The victims were identified as 21-year-old Mikaella Israele Stéphanie Nohasoavina and 17-year-old Vololoniaina Haingotiana Samison, both residing at the same address in Manjakaray. The latter was due to celebrate her 18th birthday this coming November.
On Friday morning, the two young women left their home to go to the cinema at Tana Water Front in Ambodivona. By 3:45 PM that afternoon, their phones stopped responding, and their geolocation placed them in Ambohimanga Rova. The younger victim, who had just passed her baccalaureate, stopped answering family calls, prompting immediate concern. Relatives began searching the next day, supported by social media mobilization. According to a relative, their last public appearance was a live stream on TikTok. One of them had also appeared in a music video.
Following medical examinations, the bodies were released to the families for funeral ceremonies. An investigation has been opened by the Ambohimanga Rova territorial brigade to determine the exact circumstances of their deaths and to identify potential perpetrators and accomplices.
