THE VOICE AFRIQUE – Val refines his preparation for the final

As the last Malagasy contestant remaining, Val is intensifying his preparations for the grand finale of The Voice Afrique, the African and Francophone adaptation of the famous musical talent show, scheduled for August 14 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Launched in 2016, this program brings together young artists from over 16 Francophone African countries to showcase the continent’s finest musical talents. Valimbavaka Herimanjaka Razafimahefa, known by his stage name Val, is actively preparing to represent Madagascar against three other candidates from Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Benin.

A member of Meiway’s team, the Malagasy artist secured his spot in the final after a standout performance of Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” during the knockout rounds. While his fellow Malagasy contestants, Tojo and Faith, have left the competition, Val remains focused on delivering his best performance yet.

With the final approaching, Val is following a rigorous schedule of rehearsals and stage preparation. He emphasizes that the public’s role is now crucial, as the winner will be determined by viewer votes. Supporters can vote daily via [can.al/3h11].

Val’s musical journey began at age ten in church singing competitions. He has since participated in various local contests, including Pazzapa and inter-university competitions, and has worked as a music producer and vocal coach. Since 2018, he has also directed the Les Louanges Sainte-Anne choir in Anjomakely.
