Revirevy Mody Masoandro: A constellation of artists on the same stage

After three successful editions, the Revirevy Mody Masoandro festival continues its journey with renewed ambition: to amplify the voices of artists on a single stage. The annual event returns for its fourth edition on July 26 at the CCI Ivato, featuring three iconic pillars of Malagasy music: Mahaleo, Samoëla, and Lolo sy ny Tariny. This lineup, which has already proven its appeal, remains a fan favorite.

This year’s edition will place greater emphasis on collaborative performances. In addition to their individual repertoires, the groups will share several tracks on stage. “Collaboration between us artists is crucial. It allows the audience to connect with our songs, which is our primary goal,” says Dama from the group Mahaleo. He believes this artistic synergy is palpable to the audience, helping to bring the lyrical depth of the songs back to the forefront.

The decision to retain the same artists is based on a proven formula. While each group has a dedicated following, there is a strong public demand for their collective return. Samoëla notes that the show aims to be festive and popular, focusing on a “Top 10 or 15” selection of songs that resonate most with the public.

Preparations are already underway, with joint rehearsals ensuring that while each group maintains its unique musical identity, the moments of shared performance are polished and impactful. Beyond the music, the festival serves as a platform to promote Malagasy culture. Benny from Lolo sy ny Tariny emphasizes that preserving culture is a collective responsibility, involving artists, institutions, and the public alike.

Dama concludes that the event is an opportunity to restore the importance of lyrics in music, encouraging artists to move beyond fame and focus on creating works that carry profound meaning.
