A boost for Malagasy agricultural entrepreneurship. The company Sakafo Madagascar has won the national phase of the Pierre Castel Prize. Its founder, Herilaza Nandrianina, will represent the Great Island during the grand pan-African final scheduled for September in Benin. The award ceremony was held yesterday at the Star headquarters in Andranomahery.
Sakafo Madagascar specializes in the processing and marketing of food products based on local fruits and vegetables. It stands out as a model of innovation serving food sovereignty.
Thanks to this victory, Sakafo Madagascar will receive a financial grant of 25,000 euros (123 million ariary). This fund is intended to propel the development of its activities. The winner will also benefit from support combining mentoring, targeted training programs, and integration into the valuable network of entrepreneurs supported by the Pierre Castel Fund.
For this 2026 edition, the competition generated massive interest with 186 applications registered in Madagascar.
