State employees are on the field. Leading the way, the President of Refondation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, and Prime Minister Mamitiana Rajaonarison, hit the pitch at the Manakara municipal stadium to officially launch the 2026 Interministerial Sports Association for the Maintenance of Civil Servants (Asief) games.
The football gala match in which the two executive leaders participated pitted the government team against an Asief selection. The executive team then participated in another gala match, this time in basketball, again against an Asief selection. In both matches, victory was secured by the Head of State’s teams.
There are 14,000 civil servant athletes gathered in Manakara for this annual event, which brings together officials from various ministries, institutions, and decentralized services. The opening ceremony was held on August 26, but the competitions began on August 23 and are scheduled to continue until September 5.
Designed for public administration agents, the Asief sports days aim to foster exchanges and cohesion among administrative staff. Seventeen sports disciplines are on the program for this 2026 edition. Five new disciplines have been introduced this year, including handball, beach volleyball, and beach soccer.
