After several years of creative work, Valahara finally presented ‘Haizina sy Hazavana’ this Saturday, a highly anticipated project marking a new milestone in their journey. The group unveiled about twenty new songs, all composed by lead singer Sitraka, during a concert where music and stage production held equal importance.
The show opened with a grand, theatrical entrance. A dark atmosphere, voices whispering ‘Haizina sy Hazavana’, and meticulous scenography immediately immersed the audience in the group’s universe. On stage, Valahara performed several new tracks, including ‘Hiandry anao’, ‘Nivarilavo’, ‘Tsy misy hanenenana’, ‘Tafiotra’, and ‘Voafatotrao’. Some songs had been written as early as 2019 without ever being released, while others were created starting in 2022.
‘We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. We were impatient and a bit anxious, but today the moment has finally arrived,’ shared Sitraka. For the singer, the priority is not to gather the largest crowd, but to offer a memorable show. ‘Our goal is not to play in front of the largest possible audience, but to show something strong and beautiful,’ he added.
This vision is reflected in every detail of the concert. The costumes, created specifically for the occasion, featured black, the group’s signature color, enhanced with red, green, and gold inscriptions. Symbols inspired by Viking runes and a ‘V’ evoking zebu horns reinforced Valahara’s visual identity. The members reunited in January and began rehearsals in March to prepare for this spectacle.
Composed of Sitraka on vocals, Jaykee on guitar, Garry on drums, Ranja on keyboards, and Lion on bass, Valahara claims a music without borders, alternating between powerful tracks and more intimate passages. The group will now continue promoting ‘Haizina sy Hazavana’ through several concerts, with a tour scheduled in Antsirabe on August 30, followed by a date in Antananarivo in September.
