ANDOHARANOFOTSY – Victim hands over burglar to the gendarmerie

A 17-year-old teenager was handed over to the Andoharanofotsy gendarmerie after being caught in the act of burglary. On the night of July 29, around 11 p.m., he allegedly climbed onto a roof overlooking the street before entering a neighboring house through the second floor.

Taking advantage of the occupants’ sleep, he allegedly stole several items before leaving the scene. Alerted by a witness, the victim organized a pursuit and intercepted him early on the morning of July 30, around 5:30 a.m., in Mandrimena, in the Iavoloha district. He was still carrying the stolen goods.

He confessed to the facts and explained that he intended to resell the items at La Réunion Kely. Investigations revealed that the goods came from three different homes. The victims had a pressure washer, a cooking pot, 35,000 ariary, two batteries, two solar panels, a bicycle, an air filter, and a metal part of a ping-pong table stolen.

The suspect has been placed in police custody. The seized items have been kept as evidence pending their legal restitution. The victims have been invited to file a formal complaint.
