Madagascar will not participate in the Miss World 2026 pageant. The Miss Madagascar Committee (CMM) announced that it will not present a candidate for this year’s global beauty competition. In a statement released this Friday, the committee explained that it has chosen to dedicate more time to preparing for Madagascar’s future participation. It added that it intends to begin organizing the national Miss Madagascar 2027 edition this August and is launching a recruitment process for a communication and event agency to support this endeavor.
According to the Committee, this decision aims to strengthen the organization of the pageant, the preparation of candidates, and the promotion of Malagasy cultural identity. The committee noted that it has taken into account feedback and suggestions made in recent years regarding Madagascar’s participation in Miss World. “This carefully considered choice is part of a desire to devote the necessary time to thorough preparation, in order to ensure, during Madagascar’s next participation, a representation that lives up to its identity, cultural richness, and values,” the statement emphasized.
The Committee plans to launch preparations for Miss Madagascar 2027 starting in August. The future winner will officially represent Madagascar at Miss World 2027. With this in mind, a call for applications will be open from August 3 to 22, 2026, to recruit an agency specializing in communication and events. The agency will be responsible for designing, planning, coordinating, and implementing all activities related to the organization of the national final, in accordance with the standards set by the Committee.
The CMM explains that it wants to partner with an entity possessing the necessary expertise to further professionalize the organization of the pageant and strengthen the preparation of the future Malagasy representative on the international stage. This approach is also intended to improve communication and the visibility of Madagascar during its next participation in Miss World.
The Committee recalled that Madagascar has been participating in the Miss World pageant since 2012 and has presented five representatives. The last three were Cyria Temagnombe, who took part in Miss World 2025; Antsaly Rajoelina, who was at Miss World 2023; and Nellie Anjaratiana, who participated in Miss World 2021. The Committee affirms its desire to continue this momentum while remaining faithful to the “Beauty With A Purpose” philosophy, which emphasizes social engagement, community actions, and human values.
