The State Military Transmission Office (OTME) has been reactivated. The decision was made during this Tuesday’s Council of Ministers meeting in Iavoloha, four and a half years after the organization’s dissolution in January 2022. The reborn office will have the primary mission of ensuring the integrated management of existing surveillance cameras and supervising the deployment of new equipment.
According to the Council of Ministers’ statement, this reactivation aims to strengthen security measures amidst a context marked by a resurgence of kidnappings and insecurity, particularly in urban centers. As a military body created in 1996 and attached to the Presidency of the Republic, the OTME was officially dissolved in January 2022. At that time, the management of all equipment under its control was transferred to the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry in charge of Telecommunications.
