TENNIS – CAT U14 – Moïse Rafanoharantsoa reaches doubles semi-finals

Eliminated in the singles, Moïse Rafanoharantsoa bounces back in the doubles. Partnered with Kenyan Mundia Evans Gicheru, the young Malagasy player has authoritatively qualified for the semi-finals of the CAT U14 tournament.

The best performance by a Malagasy player at the CAT U14 (Leg 1) tournament in Harare, Zimbabwe, came from the doubles draw. Moïse Rafanoharantsoa, paired with Kenyan Mundia Evans Gicheru, secured his ticket to the semi-finals after a clear victory in two sets (6/2, 6/2). This convincing performance confirms the young Malagasy’s ambitions in this highly competitive event.

In the singles, Moïse’s journey ended in the round of 16. After defeating Zimbabwean Tafara Tinevimbo in the first round (6/1, 6/3), he was unable to maintain his momentum.

On the girls’ side, 12-year-old Areyanna Raharinosy exited the tournament in her opening match after a defeat against Zimbabwean Cloé Hayes (0/6, 0/6). Despite this setback, this first experience at the highest regional level is an important step in her development.

Conducted privately under the guidance of coach Dina Tahiry Razafimahatratra, this trip has two objectives: to allow Areyanna to gain international experience and to offer Moïse the opportunity to earn valuable points for the African Championship. The two young players will continue their tour until July 26th at the Grade 2 and Grade 1 CAT tournaments.
