ASPHALT HILL CLIMB – Vakinankaratra hosts the third round

The third round of the Madagascar Slalom and Asphalt Hill Climb Championship will take place on August 2nd in Ambohibary Sambaina, on the national road towards Antsirabe.

The Vakinankaratra region is hosting an official hill climb for the first time. Organized by the AS 110 club, the race will be held on a 1.7 km long climb within a private enclosure along National Road 7, 137 km from the capital towards Antsirabe.

The program includes three runs for this third national round. All competitors must complete the group reconnaissance at 8:00 AM. Free practice and timed trials will precede the first heat, with the first car scheduled to start at 10:30 AM. The driver with the best time in the timed trial will start first. The driver with the best time in the first run will start first in the second heat, scheduled for noon. The driver with the best time in the second run will start last for the third and final climb, around 1:45 PM. Each driver must complete at least one climb to be classified, with the best time counting toward the final ranking.

Registration opened last Friday and will close on Thursday, July 30th. Participation is limited to forty cars and ten cross-cars. FMMSAM driver Juan Rakotojohary, known as Tovonen Jr, driving a Renault Clio Motul Group M11 2RM, won the first two rounds convincingly. He achieved a flawless performance in the inaugural race on the Route des Œufs in Antanetibe Mahazaza on April 26th, and followed up with three scratch times in the second round on June 28th in Imerinkasinina.
