Tragedy. Two men lost their lives on Monday night into Tuesday on the Ivato bypass, after their blue Subaru plunged into the waters of a canal located near Lake Iarivo.
The alarm was raised at 11:17 p.m. Arriving twenty minutes later, rescue teams recovered the first body, a man aged approximately 32. His companion was only found early in the morning, around 5:30 a.m. Investigators are prioritizing the theory of driving under the influence; bottles of alcohol and beer were discovered inside the vehicle. Law enforcement remained on the scene at 8:00 a.m. to secure the area and continue their investigation.
This tragedy occurred two days after another fatal accident at the same location, where a sergeant died on a motorcycle after falling into the water. A local resident testified that this section is particularly dangerous. The road suddenly narrows from four lanes to two in this area, without clear signage. Motorists and motorcyclists are urged to be extra vigilant on this axis, especially at night.
