INSECURITY – Police neutralize six criminals

Between June 19 and June 23, 2026, the National Police conducted a series of rapid operations in the capital and its outskirts, neutralizing six notorious criminals. These actions took place during a sensitive period marked by Independence Day celebrations, when banditry tends to intensify.

On Tuesday, in Ankadikely-Ilafy, a criminal known as “Radevoly” was shot dead during a high-speed chase following an armed robbery at a shop. On June 22, in Ambolonkandrina, two repeat offenders were killed after opening fire on police officers, who subsequently seized a homemade firearm and ammunition. On June 20, in Ambatomaro, two gang leaders were shot dead and four accomplices were arrested as they prepared to carry out a robbery. Finally, on June 19, in Ambilanibe-Andavamamba, an armed robber known for violent assaults was killed during an operation led by plainclothes police officers.

These interventions aim to curb urban insecurity and ensure public order during the national festivities.
