Traditional fireworks return to Lake Anosy, in the capital, tonight. The spectacle promises to be spectacular this year.
A thousand lights. The State has announced a grandiose event to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Madagascar’s independence. Lake Anosy will be the stage for an exceptional pyrotechnic show tonight. “The uniqueness of this firework display lies in its scale. It will be even larger than in previous years. Furthermore, each district will have its own firework launch,” stated General Ralaivao Andriamaromanana, Director of Joint Logistics and Support at the General Staff, yesterday.
Innovations: This edition will also be distinguished by several innovations, notably the introduction of water-based pyrotechnics and the use of a modern electronic remote control system. “The celebration will stand out thanks to the numerous pieces of equipment obtained from Madagascar’s partner countries,” added General Ralaivao Andriamaromanana. He invites the public to come and attend the celebrations, which the State has strived to make exceptional.
Provisions have been made to facilitate the movement of spectators without vehicles. Transport operators will ensure a standby service after the show. “They will work later than usual to ensure transport for all those who came to watch the show,” clarified an official from the Land Transport Agency (ATT). Buses are expected to be available until 8:00 PM, or even 9:00 PM, around Lake Anosy. Carriers from the Union of Suburban Transport Cooperatives (UCTS) have also expressed their willingness to serve residents of peripheral communes wishing to travel to the capital tonight. “No fare increases were mentioned during the meeting,” our source continued.
After being held at Lake Tsarasaotra in 2025, the traditional firework display makes its grand return to Lake Anosy this year. Last year, electric buses were deployed to transport the public to the site. “It would be an excellent idea to mobilize these vehicles again for tonight’s event,” some citizens suggest.
