Conferences, readings, exhibitions, and workshops highlighted the two-day Ainteny event at the Cité des Cultures.
The Malagasy language took center stage this past Friday and Saturday at the Cité des Cultures in Antaninarenina. Organized by the association Teny Gasy 2.0 as part of the Month of the Malagasy Language, the inaugural edition of Ainteny brought together enthusiasts, professionals, authors, and visitors with a shared ambition: to strengthen the role of the Malagasy language in contemporary society.
Held under the theme “Ny teny malagasy, mahalaza ny ankehitriny sy ny ho avy” (The Malagasy language: expressing the present and the future), the gathering demonstrated that the national language can assert itself in fields as varied as education, administration, entrepreneurship, and technology.
The two-day event was marked by numerous activities. The public enjoyed free access to the works of several Malagasy authors, discovered publications from local publishing houses such as Karné, and attended conferences, workshops, exhibitions, screenings, and activities designed for children.
Through this event, the Teny Gasy 2.0 association aims to encourage the use of Malagasy in all sectors of daily life. Created in 2016 to increase the language’s presence on the Internet, the association now works on disseminating specialized terminology to make Malagasy more relevant to the realities of the modern world.
This first edition of Ainteny served as a reminder that the Malagasy language is both a living cultural heritage and a tool for the future, capable of accompanying the evolution of society.
