The schedule and venues for the Round of 16 of the Madagascar Cup have been finalized following the draw held yesterday at the federation’s headquarters in Isoraka. Nine PFL (Pro League) clubs will compete in this stage, scheduled for July 5. Coincidentally, Disciples FC will face Ajesaia in the Round of 16. These two teams met this past weekend in the first leg of the championship quarterfinals, where the Antaninkatsaka side secured a 1-0 victory. The two sides will meet again this Saturday at By-Pass for the return leg. In the Cup’s Round of 16, Ajesaia will host the Vakinankaratra club, with the ‘Yellow-Blues’ choosing the venue.
The sixteen qualified teams were divided into two pots of eight based on their 2025 rankings. Seven clubs from Pot I, the highest-ranked, will host their matches at home. Defending champion Elgeco Plus will host AS Valahara from Vakinankaratra at By-Pass. Cosfa will host AS PTT at Betongolo. AS Sainte-Anne will play at home against Clinique Zanantany. FC Rouge will face Antimo Record from Atsimo-Andrefana at Betongolo. Uscafoot will host AFCA Sava at Alarobia. Meanwhile, two PFL teams will be required to travel: CFFA will play their match against Babangy FC in Fenoarivo-Atsinanana, and Fosa Juniors FC will face Wagner FC from Ihorombe on their home turf.
Following the draw, the teams drawn first were awarded home advantage for their respective matches. “The quarterfinals are scheduled for July 12. The dates for the semifinals and the final are yet to be determined. The Cup should be concluded before July 20, the deadline for registration for the CAF Confederation Cup,” stated Helly Zafinimanga, president of the competitions department.
