The NGO Cœur et Conscience is celebrating its 20th anniversary of presence and action in Madagascar (2006-2026) this year. This symbolic milestone was officially marked last weekend with a ceremony held in the main hall of the City Hall.
On this occasion, the NGO honored responsible fathers and the younger generations who help uphold its values. Certificates of recognition and incentive bonuses were awarded to them as a sign of appreciation for their commitment and efforts. This distinction specifically rewards their participation in various competitions organized as part of the festivities.
This celebration also marks the coming of age for Cœur et Conscience. This maturity is measured in particular by the journey of the many children supported by the organization, some of whom have now successfully integrated into society and built their futures.
This is notably the case for Francia Vavihely, who was sponsored by the NGO starting in 2007 when she was still a young girl. Today, she holds the position of General Coordinator of the organization after obtaining a Master 2 degree from the university.
Another former beneficiary also distinguished herself on the international stage by winning an international award in Canada at the University of Quebec. Her perseverance also allowed her to benefit from a scholarship.
To date, the organization still supports 1,200 children, distributed across the best schools in the city of Antsiranana, from kindergarten to university.
The NGO’s action is not limited to academic support. In 2011, it notably set up the “Responsible Fathers Club,” a program aimed at raising awareness among heads of families about their role in their children’s education through training sessions. Initially consisting of fifteen members, the club evolved in 2013 to become the Assembly of Responsible Fathers, then bringing together 119 members. The movement now has 400 members in Antsiranana.
