Malagasy driver Iaro Razanakoto secured his first GT3 victory yesterday in Buriram, Thailand. He thus becomes the first African to win in this category in the Thailand Super Series.
A victory to close the season. The Malagasy national anthem, “Ry Tanindrazanay Malala,” echoed yesterday at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand. As the 2025 Thailand GT4 champion, Iaro Razanakoto won his first GT3 race in his debut season in the category.
Partnered with Thai-Norwegian driver Sandy Kraokew Stuvik, the Malagasy driver triumphed behind the wheel of an Audi R8 Evo 2, now sporting the colors white, red, and green. The duo won the second race of the fourth and final round of the Thailand Super Series (TSS), after finishing fourth in the first race on Saturday.
“My dream has finally come true, ten years later, after so much effort. I finally won my first GT3 victory. I dedicate this victory to all Malagasy people and to Africa,” Iaro wrote on Facebook yesterday.
For this final round, his team agreed to let him fully represent Madagascar, with a car featuring the colors of the national flag.
Iaro and Sandy had previously secured two third-place finishes, in Bangsaen in July and then in Sepang, Malaysia, in early October. During the opening round, held at the same Buriram circuit, they placed fifth.
In Malaysia, the duo came very close to victory. After being involved in a collision during the first race, they led the second until the final lap, before being hindered by a GT4 competitor and subsequently overtaken by their main rival.
This first GT3 success marks a new milestone in the Malagasy driver’s progression in motor racing in Southeast Asia.
