More than fifty women benefited from free breast cancer screening at the Arboretum in Ankorondrano yesterday. This initiative was organized by the company Softex as part of the celebration of Pink October 2026, a month dedicated to the fight against breast and cervical cancer.
For this edition, Softex themed its activities “Capable, Confident Woman.” Participants also took part in information sessions focused on prevention methods and the necessity of early cancer detection.
Murielle Rakotomalala, Commercial and Relations Director at the company, explained that Softex intends to contribute to the health education of young girls and women. The company began conducting menstrual hygiene awareness campaigns in 2025. Continuing these initiatives, it plans to distribute hygiene kits this week to underprivileged young girls attending public schools, from primary to high school levels.
These actions aim to help young girls better understand their bodies and raise awareness about cancer prevention. According to available figures, since 2022, more than 3,100 women in Madagascar have benefited from breast and cervical cancer screenings through initiatives led by Softex.
