Public Security in Boeny: Regional Directors Officially Installed

The official installation ceremony for the regional directors of public security for the Boeny, Melaky, Betsiboka, and Sofia regions took place on Friday in front of the National School of Maritime Education (ENEM) by the seaside in Mahajanga.

Appointed during the Council of Ministers last December, these officials had already been in their roles for several months. However, their official installation only took place this Friday during a military ceremony.

In Boeny, Police Controller General Felokony Christ Noelson succeeded Divisional Commissioner Christian Tombohasy on December 22. Principal Police Commissioner Grimond Rambelomanana was appointed to head the regional directorate of public security in Betsiboka. Divisional Police Commissioner Thomas Richard Rakoto was assigned to the Sofia region, while Police Commissioner Michel Rawilly took over the regional directorate of Melaky.

The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Public Security, Police Inspector General Erick Michel.

“The objective of the ceremony is to continue strengthening security at the local level by appointing officials who will work together and participate in the implementation of the government’s vision and policy regarding public security,” the minister stated.

The Director General of the National Police, Police Controller Tsaramonina Ravony Jean Victor, as well as representatives of civil and military authorities, local authorities of Mahajanga, and senior officials of the National Police attended the ceremony.

The opening speeches also emphasized the importance of cooperation between the police and the population to establish lasting peace.
