On October 19, 2026, the Syndicate of Industries of Madagascar (SIM) and artist Joely presented contributions from twenty-eight member companies to MealEspoirs Madagascar in the Anosibe neighborhood of Antananarivo. Titled “Always standing, united with the Malagasy for our children,” this corporate social responsibility initiative aims to improve the living conditions of vulnerable children, particularly through food, education, and protection.
In Anosibe, family poverty directly affects children’s living and learning conditions. Some grow up in cramped housing, while others face violence or are forced to engage in scavenging activities in landfills to contribute to family income.
To address these challenges, MealEspoirs Madagascar has developed support that goes beyond food distribution. “There are children living ten to a five-square-meter shack. These are not conditions for learning properly,” explains Cyrille Casalis, founder and president of the organization.
Active among vulnerable populations, the association intervenes in three essential areas: food, education, and health. It contributes to children’s schooling, provides school supplies, and offers educational activities. It also operates a shelter for children in difficulty, particularly those exposed to violence in their family environment or neighborhood.
This support aims to provide children with a safer environment to learn and grow. “Restoring dignity to children means teaching them to respect themselves, to respect others, and to protect them. Every child has the right to a future,” emphasizes Cyrille Casalis.
The goal is also to enable them to escape survival activities that compromise their schooling. “I cannot conceive that a child could spend their whole life in a landfill, collecting coal or pieces of metal to sell by the kilo. This is not the future of Madagascar,” he insists.
