The second edition of the Afromada Music Awards will be held on October 17 in Antananarivo. Several Malagasy artists are competing among talents from the African continent and its diaspora.

The Afromada Music Awards return to Antananarivo. The second edition will take place on Saturday, October 17, starting at 6 p.m. at the Radisson Blu, under the theme “Let’s celebrate African music together.” Artists, music industry professionals, and the public are expected for an evening of performances and awards ceremonies, distributed across 21 categories.

The distinctions cover various profiles and backgrounds: best African artist, artist of the year, best song of the year, trending artist, best male artist, and best female artist. Awards are also dedicated to artists from West, North, East, Central, and Southern Africa, as well as those from the Indian Ocean and the diaspora.

The ceremony will also honor professionals involved in musical creation and distribution, through categories for best beatmaker or arranger, best producer or promoter, and best African director. Additionally, there are awards for revelation of the year, best ragga or reggae artist, best African choreographer, and best African duo or group. The Afromada Gold Award 2026, associated with Madagascar, completes the 21 announced distinctions.

Big MJ, Chila, Wawa, Rim-Ka, D-Lain, Ambondrona, Reko Band, Denise, Tence Mena, Basta Lion, and Mad Max are among the nominated Malagasy artists. Shyn, Dadi Love, Ceasar, and Arnaah are also in the running.

According to the organizers, the selection of winners is based on public votes and the assessment of a jury, particularly regarding musical talent. The awards aim to recognize the contribution of artists and professionals to musical creation over the past year.

Initiated by N’Guessan Koffi Toussaint, the Afromada Music Awards aim to establish themselves durably in the African musical calendar. The organizers intend to foster exchanges between sector actors and offer international visibility to both emerging and established talents. Their ambition is to make Madagascar an annual meeting place for African music and its diaspora.
