A couple of entrepreneurs were killed at their home in Amboaroy Antehiroka on Saturday around noon. Both victims each sustained at least five stab wounds. The man was an 86-year-old French national, and his wife was a 65-year-old Malagasy woman.
The gendarmerie is continuing its investigation. Certain elements remain confidential, while the search for the alleged perpetrator of the double murder continues.
The tragedy occurred in broad daylight. Both victims died at the scene. According to initial reports, this was not an attack by a group of criminals breaking into the house, but a premeditated murder. The alleged perpetrator is believed to be an acquaintance of the couple who was admitted onto the property. According to a source, a gunshot was also narrowly missed another person.
“The individual who committed the act knew the victims and already had a relationship with them. The investigation will determine if he acted alone or with the help of accomplices. He was looking for money or valuables. The couple’s 40-year-old son, who was in the house at the time, escaped the attack,” stated the Ambohidratrimo gendarmerie, which is in charge of the investigation.
Due to a disability, the couple’s son was unable to raise the alarm quickly.
The alleged perpetrator reportedly remained on the premises for about an hour. The victims may have resisted, which could explain the multiple wounds found on their bodies. The interior of the house was ransacked, with belongings turned upside down in the search for money and valuables.
