A jazz concert organized at the Mandrosoa rehabilitation center provided the young residents with a moment of joy, sharing, and consideration.
Music transcends walls and brings generations together. Yesterday, the Mandrosoa rehabilitation and penitentiary center in Anosiala hosted a jazz concert for its young residents. Organized as part of the 36th edition of the Madajazzcar festival, with the support of the Swiss Embassy, this initiative aimed to offer them a musical experience.
For this performance, the Tahiry Andriamanoro Trio showcased jazz. Composed of Tahiry Andriamanoro on drums, Boka on keyboard, and Iosefa on bass, the trio revisited several tracks in their own style, including a jazz version of the song “Io any izy” by Lolo sy ny tariny, and performed “Bakoly,” a composition by Tahiry.
“No one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails,” Nelson Mandela once said. This sentiment aligns with the approach of Jackie Ranarison, president of the Madajazzcar festival organizing committee.
“Our goal is to bring joy to these young people and show them consideration through music,” he explained. Beyond the concert, this initiative intends to provide the residents with a space to develop their skills and prepare for their social reintegration. “Culture can cross borders and create bonds between people,” he emphasized.
