ANTSIRANANA – The most vulnerable receive diverse support

A shipment of 25 m³ of medical equipment and various supplies arrived in Antsiranana aboard an A400M military aircraft. Intended for four associations, the aid is set to benefit the most vulnerable populations.

This humanitarian freight, aimed at supporting four organizations in the Diana, Sava, and Toliara regions, arrived last Sunday at the Antsiranana airport. The initiative is led by the paratroopers of the 2nd Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment (2e RPIMa), who are committed to humanitarian efforts for the people of Northern Madagascar.

The 25 m³ of supplies, sourced from four associations in Reunion Island, were transported by the French Armed Forces in the Southern Indian Ocean (FAZSOI). The donations will be distributed to local populations, hospitals, hospices, schools, and vulnerable individuals identified within the fokontany.

According to reports, the Reunion-based paratroopers mobilize humanitarian aid annually for the vulnerable populations of Antsiranana through four Malagasy associations: Cœur et Conscience, Fikambanana Miaramientana Diana (FMDS), La Main qui Étreint, and Shekina de Toliara.

This delivery marks a new milestone in the solidarity between Reunion Island and Northern Madagascar. The aid is distributed across nine districts in two regions to ensure broad coverage. While the donations consist primarily of school supplies, the medical equipment provided remains highly valuable to the recipient structures.

“Every year, we seek to identify new beneficiaries so that the aid does not always go to the same people. The goal is to allow a greater number of families and vulnerable individuals to benefit,” explained Sylvia Jocelyne Jaonosy, founding representative of the FMDS association.
