The fourth edition of the Ant’Sary Doc Mada International Festival concluded with seven awards presented to works from Madagascar, Mayotte, France, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Senegal.
Seven prizes were awarded at the end of the fourth edition of Ant’Sary Doc Mada, held from September 26 to October 3 in Antananarivo. The jury, composed of Auxane Aliotti (Cinema Manager at the French Institute of Madagascar), Anatole Ramaroson (author, director, producer, and festival director), Kadhaffi Mbuyamba (director and producer), and Aina Randrianatoandro (film critic), recognized several works across various competition categories.
In the short film category, Hakana Hakana by Germain Le Carpentier, representing Mayotte and France, won the Best Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound awards. In the feature film category, the Best Film award went to Trop c’est trop by Elisé Sawasawa (DRC and France), while Vestiges du passé by Fara Konaté (Senegal) received the award for Best Cinematography.
In the digital experience category, the prize went to Mialy by Julienne Norohasimbola from Madagascar. The Encouragement Prize was awarded to Viavy, le choix de Hargina by Gilde Razafitsihadinoina, while the Audience Award went to More Than a Fight by Malagasy filmmakers Nomasy Raharijaona and Ramilimiaramamonjy Heritina Tsilavina.
This edition, organized in close partnership with the French Institute of Madagascar and in collaboration with CSP Films, featured seventeen works from ten countries and territories: six feature films, ten short films, and one digital experience. Screenings were accompanied by meetings with directors, and attendance increased throughout the sessions.
Beyond the competition, Ant’Sary Doc Mada strengthened its focus on training and supporting authors. The DOC OI writing residency, hosted for the first time in Madagascar from September 28 to October 2, brought together a dozen authors to develop their documentary projects.
