A young married couple, suspected of murdering a bajaj (motorized tricycle) driver in Andranomanelatra, Antsirabe, on the evening of Thursday, September 24, has been in pre-trial detention since last week.
The victim, a 37-year-old father, was driving his motorized tricycle on a track in Fiadanana. He was found lifeless near his vehicle in a pool of blood, with wounds consistent with a bladed weapon. The news spread quickly, and local residents gathered at the scene. It was reported that the bajaj had just transported three passengers, who have since disappeared.
“The victim died after being stabbed in the neck. Thanks to investigations and information from local residents, it was determined that a mason residing in Amparihimena, in the same commune, was the perpetrator. He was arrested on Sunday, September 27, with the cooperation of the local fokontany committee,” stated the Antsirabe police.
The man is 26 years old. His 24-year-old wife is also implicated. According to a source close to the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime during his interrogation.
