TRAFFIC – A new road will connect Ambodivona and Masay

The road network in Antananarivo is set to expand. A new road will connect Ambodivona and Masay, as announced during the Council of Ministers meeting held on Tuesday, September 29, at the Iavoloha State Palace. A source from the Ministry of Territorial Planning and Land Services stated yesterday that this project is part of a public-private partnership aimed at fostering economic development and improving urban mobility.

The Council of Ministers has adopted a decree declaring the construction of this road in the Urban Commune of Antananarivo, Analamanga region, to be of public utility. The decree also authorizes the acquisition of the necessary land for the project, either through amicable transfer or expropriation for public utility purposes.

This road is expected to relieve congestion in Amboditsiry, Manjakaray, and Ambodivona, which are particularly crowded during peak hours. This axis is frequently saturated due to the high volume of vehicles using it.

The implementation of this infrastructure highlights once again the urgent need to develop new traffic routes in the capital. According to the Urban Commune of Antananarivo, between 100,000 and 250,000 vehicles travel daily on a road network designed to accommodate a maximum of 50,000.
