WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – GNBC remains untouchable

The final phase of the Madagascar N1A women’s basketball championship continues to confirm the dominance of GNBC at the Palais des Sports in Mahamasina. Still undefeated, the players coached by Eli Michael Rakotonindrina secured another victory yesterday by defeating Varsity (50-42).

Following their success against MB2ALL during the third day, the Gendarmerie Nationale team has firmly established itself as a benchmark in this final phase. After four days of competition, the team remains undefeated, demonstrating the consistency that reflects their championship ambitions.

This latest victory extends the momentum built since the start of the final phase. On the third day, GNBC made a strong statement by defeating the then-provisional leader, MB2ALL, with a score of 68-53. Following the third day, the provisional standings placed GNBC in second position with 14 points, trailing MB2ALL with 15 points.

Behind the top two teams, the competition remains fierce. JEA Vakinankaratra held third place with 12 points, while BC Somava, Ankaratra Vakinankaratra, ASSM Analamanga, Dunamis Analamanga, and JCBA Analamanga each had 11 points. EBF Haute Matsiatra followed with nine points, ahead of ASCUT Atsinanana with eight points and Varsity with seven points.

The fourth day brought further results. In addition to GNBC’s victory over Varsity (50-42), BC Somava defeated Ankaratra (55-45). MB2ALL delivered a strong performance by dominating Dunamis 84-59, while JEA overcame ASSM 47-33.

These results heighten the excitement of the competition, particularly in the race for the top spots. For GNBC, the goal is now to maintain this momentum until the end of the final phase. With a team stringing together victories and a defense that allows them to control their opponents, Eli Michael Rakotonindrina’s squad continues its flawless run.
