CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES FAIR – Haika opens a space for artists and creators

Artists, creators, and cultural actors are invited to gather at Haika from October 9 to 11 at the Cité des Cultures in Antaninarenina to showcase their talents and reflect on the challenges of their professions.

Providing greater visibility to artists and creative professions is one of the goals of Haika, whose first edition will be held on October 9, 10, and 11 at the Cité des Cultures in Antaninarenina. The event will bring together artists, creators, and various stakeholders in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) for exhibitions, workshops, conferences, and networking sessions.

The event is supported by a synergy between Miarakap, Hay Ahy Hay, and Mahetalent. It is aimed at individuals with talent, expertise, or creativity, as well as those wishing to discover or enter the creative fields. The objective is to create a space where artists can present their work, promote their activities, and meet new partners.

Haika will highlight several sectors of the cultural and creative industries, including video games, cinema, music, fashion and textiles, publishing and literature, as well as visual arts and design. Artists and exhibitors from these sectors will be able to present their work in the exhibition spaces provided during the three days.

Conferences and workshops will also address the realities of the sector and the difficulties faced by professionals. Key issues include access to financing, professionalization, and the structuring of artistic activities. A large portion of artists still operates informally, a situation that can limit their access to certain opportunities.

Haika aims to contribute to raising awareness of creative professions and highlighting their economic and professional potential. The possibility of making a sustainable living from artistic activity will also be a topic of reflection, covering both available opportunities and persistent obstacles.

Beyond the exhibition of works, the event intends to foster meetings and networking. For artists, meeting new stakeholders can open up possibilities for collaboration, distribution, or professional development.

Supported by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) and funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) as part of the Regional Project for the Development of CCIs, the support program for cultural and creative enterprises is in full swing. Implemented by Miarakap Conseil and Com’Work (Comoros), this initiative illustrates a strong ambition: to structure, promote, and sustainably propel the creative talents of the territories. Through this initiative, the organizers wish to offer a showcase for talent and contribute, at their level, to the development of cultural and creative industries in Madagascar.

For three days, Haika will serve as a space for presentation, discovery, exchange, and reflection on artists, their professions, and their place in the cultural economy.
