COOPERATION – Madagascar files a waiver request with the IMF for non-compliance with a performance criterion

Madagascar is in the spotlight. The Great Island’s file is scheduled to be reviewed by the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on September 30. The Board will assess Madagascar’s performance following the third and fourth reviews of the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).

Crucially, the Board is expected to address a waiver request submitted by Madagascar regarding the non-compliance with one of the performance criteria. It will also examine requests for the revision and modification of the agreements concluded with Madagascar under these two programs.

Madagascar’s file was originally scheduled for review in July but was postponed following the country’s suspension of the automatic fuel price adjustment mechanism. Although the ministry had suggested a new meeting in August, the Executive Board ultimately set the date for September 30.
